Red Rooster Festival

There's never a dull moment in the fine city. Last Thursday I popped in to Soundclash in the Lanes to pick up a record, and was introduced to none other than the 12th Duke of Grafton. Harry, as he is affectionately known by his friends and family, was in Norwich for the day to promote his Red Rooster Festival which takes place over the first weekend in June, in the grounds of his fabulous country house, Euston Hall, Suffolk. He was accompanied by former Jim Jones Revue guitarist, Rupert Orton, who booked the bands for this great looking festival.
It turns out that Harry is a big roots music fan, who used to be a  DJ in Nashville, Tennessee, and also spent a couple of years selling merch for none other than the Rolling Stones.

Red Rooster Festival is sold as a 'Good-time weekend of Rhythm and Blues, Americana, Soul, Roots and Country, in the heart of Suffolk county', and when you talk to those who've been before, they say it is just that. Not only is it just across the border, but it's family friendly, has some great food on offer and a rather splendid bar. It's small (approx 3,000), boutique and in an incredibly stunning location.

Red Rooster kicks off on Thursday June 2nd and runs until the Saturday night. There's too many great bands and things to highlight on the blog, but you can find out all about it here - http://www.redrooster.org.uk/
We're hoping to join the large Norwich contingent there for the weekend, see you there!
