About The Event
Rusty Egan has been one of the most renowed DJs in London’s club scene and also a prolific musician.
He started out as a drummer playing in various bands including Rich Kids, with his lifelong friend, Midge Ure. Together with Ure they formed Visage, fronted by Steve Strange. They had made 2 albums with a number one hit with ‘Fade to Grey’ the third album was not a success and Visage were no more.
Whilst drumming for various bands Rusty was always a clubber and wanted to open a club where the music was not soul and funk and with Steve Strange the started a small once week night in Soho that spawned a series of clubs to shape nighlife with The Blitz in which he played never heard electronic and synthpop records, promoting non-american values and European (Yello Jean Michelle Jarre Kraftwerk Telex introducing ) Japanese (Yello Magic Orchestra ) and various electronic music from Europe , which helped shape the sound of the emerging scene. He also discovered talented new emerging artists which he put on at his club and various parties. Spandau Ballet – Depeche Mode – Soft Cell – to name just three.
At the advent of Acid House Music Rusty became a promoter and finally club owner till the mid 90’s trading in the late nights for early mornings and starting a family. In 2004 Rusty was enticed back to the DJ and music studio by the advent of electronic and lap top DJing being one of the 1st to embrace this with PC DJ . Rusty was at the onset with his local Chelsea Nightclub Boujis and this propelled him back to the west end- Ibiza- SOF- Dubia and many more glamour parties and back in the studio to remix his 1980 elect classic RERB by Shock.
Welcome to the dance floor in which he reinvented himself and the classic 80s sounds which he brought to fruition.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Rusty Egan, has proven himself as an outstanding DJ and as a new artist influenced by futuristic sounds.
